As you can see pineapple contains a hint of phosphorus, and a hint of fat and calcium, but is very sweet and acidic as well.

However it does contain an awesome amount of vitamin c which is great for piggies.

Guinea pigs can eat pineapples but not often, just once a week at the very most in small amounts. Too much and they will have poorly tummies. Just like us when we eat it, I guess.

Can guinea pigs eat pineapple skin?

Do cut off the skin though and throw it away before you chop up the pineapple to give it to them.

Can guinea pigs eat pineapple juice?

No they can’t unfortunately as its just too much for their delicate tummies. Steer well clear.

Can guinea pigs eat tinned pineapples?

No they can’t unfortunately, they contain far too much juice for them.

  1. A note for those who, like us, have some pineapple plants growing… From experience, the leaves seem to be perfectly edible, too.

When I researched pineapples and guinea pigs (since our pair had to be dragged away from the pot and I was worried), the most I’ve found re:greenery was some people saying “the leaves are stringy, prickly and we think no animal in their right mind will eat them”. Well, our duo munches them for the past 2 years with no problems or lack of appetite 🙂
