Marmite is made from yeast extract and is a by-product of beer brewing.
It is loved and loathed in equal measure and is a by-word for something that ‘splits opinion’.
It is spread on sandwiches or on toast or crackers.
So can guinea pigs eat marmite at all?
Unfortunately they can’t at all.
It is just not suitable for guinea pigs to eat at all and will make them ill.
This is because, amongst other things, it is very acidic in content.
Definitely a food for guinea pigs to steer clear of.
