Updated 25th August 2016. So blueberries….I love them on desserts and yes, in muffins as well 🙂
They are a great delicacy and are enjoyed the world over.
So can guinea pigs eat them and if they can, how many can they eat?
Lets have a look as usual at their nutritional data and find out more about them.
I’m particularly looking for their phosphorus, fats, sugar, Oxelate acid, and calcium levels. Not to mention a healthy amount of vitamin a and c.

So taking into account all the data here, it contains small amounts of phosphorus and fats, but not a trace of oxelate acid. But it does contain quite a lot of sugar.
However, there are very good amounts of vitamin c.
With that in mind, Guinea pigs can eat blueberries, but only one, twice a week at most because of their sugar content. If they have too many they will get tummy problems, so do take care.

Can guinea pigs eat dried blueberries?
Yes they can but it does still contain high amounts of sugar so only in small amounts.
Can guinea pigs eat frozen blueberries?
Unfortunately, they can’t eat any frozen foods.
I feed my guinea pig frozen blueberries, after I’ve thawed them out of course. He doesn’t like the fresh kind. So when you said they can’t eat frozen blueberries, do u mean just while they’re frozen”
Hi Crystal yes that’s right. They’re fine thawed
I only got my 2 guinea pigs 1 week ago and they like blueberry and banana and cucumber , but are all them things okay for them ?
this website is a very good source of information on what you can and cannot feed a guinea pig. thanks so much for such a great site!!!
i was wondering if they could eat the seed of the blueberry plant?,
thank you
You say Guinea pigs can’t eat frozen foods.. But my Guinea pig loves and regularly eats frozen baby oranges that have been peeled and pulled apart while it’s still frozen. Is that bad..?
How many is a small amount for blueberries at one snack time.

Hi Debra, really sorry to hear this. This article on Guinea Lynx on the subject is very good http://www.guinealynx.info/diarrhea.html. They recommend lots of timothy hay on hand for your gp, absolutely no veggies and fruits for them.
our piggies Annie Betty Summer and Pip like blueberries and grapes best of all fruit but we only give them when they come inside to calm them down.
