If they nibble at one they will be fine but they aren’t a food to purposely be fed to a guinea pig.

Donuts are too full of fat and are often cooked and coated in sugar to be good for guinea pigs.

We’ve already looked at mandarin oranges and seen that guinea pigs can eat a small amount of them.

They contain a good amount of vitamin c which is great for them.

However what about canned mandarin oranges?

Canned mandarin oranges are good because they hold their nutritional values throughout the year.

This means that we can eat them whenever we want to and don’t have to rely on them being in season.

As long as the can isn’t opened then they are fine.

However the thing with canned mandarin oranges, as opposed to fresh ones, is that they are often quite high in added sodium or sugar.

They are also contained in syrup in the can.

This is pretty bad for guinea pigs as will hurt their tummies if they eat them.

So if you are going to feed canned mandarin oranges to your guinea pigs then it is worth looking for those that are free of additives (if they exist at all?) and feed them small amounts at the very most.

But on the whole, stick to normal fresh mandarin oranges and you won’t go wrong.

We love jello in our house and so we often see it on various occasions.

So if we can eat jello can guinea pigs eat it and if so how much can they eat?

Unfortunately, they can’t join in the whole jello fun. This is because jello is made up of sugar and water, both things that are not so good for guinea pigs.

So if you have jello in your home then keep it away from your guinea pigs.

Unfortunately, guinea pigs can’t eat treacle at all. It is far too sweet for them and is very bad for them with that.

So it really is a food that you should steal clear of as far as guinea pigs are concerned and that means treacle based desserts as well, such as treacle tart.

They are just far too sweet for guinea pigs.

Unfortunately, they can’t at all.

Nutella is far too sweet for guinea pigs and so their tummies just can’t handle it at all.

Plus they are unable to eat any dairy products of which Nutella contains quite a bit.

This is because they are lactose intolerant which would mean even more tummy upset.

So it is a food that guinea pigs should definitely avoid.

So we know that guinea pigs can’t eat dairy. But what about strawberry jam?

Unfortunately, strawberry jam is far too sweet for them to enjoy.

Of course, if they are presented with it, they will nibble at it.

But they can’t eat sweet things too much and because strawberry jam is very sweet it is not good for them at all.

So as far as feeding it to your guinea pigs is concerned, steer clear of doing so and give them something they’ll enjoy instead.

Ice cream is fantastic to have during the hot summer months when the temperatures of warm and you need something to eat that is cool.

So can guinea pigs eat ice cream and if they can how much can they eat?

Can guinea pigs eat ice cream?

Unfortunately, guinea pigs can’t eat ice cream at all.

This is because they are lactose intolerant which means they can’t eat any dairy foods whatsoever.

They also can’t eat frozen foods either as they cannot handle the cold.

This means that they can eat any foods like this and so please do avoid giving ice cream to guinea pigs even if it is just to nibble on.

This includes all flavors of ice cream, unfortunately!

However they can nibble on ice cream wafer cones if you have them, but they shouldn’t really have them as part of their main diet.
