An eel is any fish belonging to the order Anguilliformes, which consists of four suborders, 20 families, 111 genera and about 800 species. Most eels are predators.

The term “eel”, originally referring to the European eel, is also used for some other similarly shaped fish, such as electric eels and spiny eels.

Fish oil is oil derived from the tissues of oily fish.

It contains the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

This is the precursor of certain eicosanoids that are known to reduce inflammation in the body, and have other health benefits, such as treating hypertriglyceridemia, although claims of preventing heart attacks or strokes have not been supported.

Fish oil and omega-3 fatty acids have been studied in a wide variety of other conditions, such as clinical depression, anxiety, cancer, and macular degeneration, yet benefits in these conditions have not been verified. (source)

Can Guinea Pigs Eat Fish Oil?

No they can’t at all unfortunately. Although it is great for humans to have, it is not good for guinea pigs at all and will make them sick.

It should be avoided as a food for them.
