Can Guinea pigs eat Socks?

If you’ve had a guinea pig run around your home you’ll know that they will pretty much take a nibble at anything they take a fancy to.

This includes taking a nibble of your socks if they take a fancy to them.

This is fine for them to do so, although they won’t do so for long because the fabric isn’t usually to their liking.

In fact, old socks make great things for guinea pigs to play with, as they can mess around with them and also snuggle up against them.

So do bear them in mind for your guinea pigs the next time you are throwing some out.

If you let your guinea pigs out in your home, you may have experienced them trying to chew your carpet.

The thing is that they will chew anything and if your carpet happens to catch their eye or nose for that matter, they will try and chew it.

So is this okay?

Well not really as it does neither you or your guinea pigs much good.

The trick is to divert their attention to something else to chew on.

Give them some cardboard, or better still some veggies, and they will soon stop.

You can’t stop guinea pigs from chewing but you can give them better things to chew on.

The other thing with your carpet is that it may have been treated with chemicals such as shampoos.

Well, you will know is. So this will harm them if so, so keep their attention away from your carpet.

Can Guinea Pigs Eat Fabric?

So you’ve let your guinea pigs run around your living room and all of a sudden they start to eat your furniture.

They start gnawing their way through the fabric of your chair because they’ve taken a fancy to it.

It’s happened to me, has it happened to you?

The truth is that guinea pigs will gnaw at anything if you give them a chance.

They really don’t discriminate. They’ll even gnaw through cables if you let them.

So can guinea pigs eat fabric?

No they can’t really.

They really won’t like it, once they nibble at it.

If they do happen to eat it and swallow it, it shouldn’t do them harm but there could be choking issues if they continue to eat through it.

So do keep an eye on them if you let them loose in your living area¸especially as a fabric is probably one of the safer things they could nibble on.
