Can Guinea Pigs Eat Dill Pickles?

A pickled cucumber (commonly known as a pickle in the United States and Canada or generically as gherkins in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand).

It is a cucumber that has been pickled in a brine, vinegar, or other solution and left to ferment for a period of time.

This is done by either immersing the cucumbers in an acidic solution or through souring by lacto-fermentation. (source)

 Can guinea pigs eat dill pickles?
Unfortunately, they can’t at all. They are far too acidic for guinea pigs to eat and will hurt them if eaten.

Can Guinea Pigs Eat Dill?

Also known as Lao coriander, Dill  is either a perennial or annual herb depending on where it is grown. It is used to flavour many different foods around the world and is at its best when used fresh but loses its flavour when it is dried.

As usual, we’re looking particularly at the phosphorus, sugar, calcium, oxelate acid, and fat content.

A healthy amount of vitamin a and c would also be a good bonus.

As you can see it does contain quite a bit of phosphorus and a lot of calcium plus a hint of fat content.

Guinea pigs can eat dill, but only sporadically because of the calcium content. Once or twice a month at the most.

Yes they can. Dill weed is another name for fresh dill and they can eat it. But only feed it sporadically because of its phosphorus content.

Can guinea pigs eat dill pickle?

No they can’t at all. They are far too acidic for piggies to eat.

Yes they can. Dill is at its best when fed fresh for piggies, but only once or twice a month at the most.
