Heritage Humane Society Inc. – Based in Williamsburg, The Heritage Humane Society will serve as the compassionate steward of companion animals that are in transition from stray/surrender to forever homes. Heritage Humane Society will also educate the public about humane animal care and treatment, advocate animal welfare, and provide affordable adoption and spay/neuter services to measurably reduce overpopulation of unwanted companion animals.

Virginia Beach SPCA – Based in Virginia Beach, The Virginia Beach SPCA is the best place in South Hampton Roads to find the right pet for you! Our animals are all spayed or neutered, and come with all of their shots except rabies, which can be administered here for an additional small fee

Virginia Beach Animal Control Unit – Based in Virginia Beach, Our mission is accomplished by working with our citizens and other animal welfare organizations; by enforcing the domestic animals laws of our Commonwealth and our City, providing educational programs and humanely providing care, nourishment and a safe environment for the unwanted, stray, abused and abandoned animals in our City.

Stafford County Animal Shelter – Based in Stafford, It is the purpose of the Animal Control Division to insure a safe coexistence between animals and people, to enforce the comprehensive animal laws of the commonwealth of Virginia and Stafford County, to humanely provide for the animals that come into our care at the pound and to educate the citizens of Stafford on proper care, bite prevention, rabies control and disaster preparedness.

Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue – Based in Springfield, We are a group of rescuers and fosterers of guinea pigs in the MD/DC/SoPa/NoVa area. We rescue only from local shelters and do not take in owner give-ups for any reason. We always have lots of guinea pigs available for adoption.

Animal Welfare league of Alexandria – Based in ALEXANDRIA, At the AWLA, matchmaking is our specialty. Pairing the right companion animal with the right adopter can be part science and part “art.”

Augusta Regional SPCA – Based in Staunton, The Augusta Regional S.P.C.A. advocates the humane treatment of companion animals through leadership and proactive solutions to pet overpopulation including adoptions, spay/neuter efforts, and education.

The Humane Society of Fairfax County Inc. – Based in Fairfax, The Humane Society of Fairfax County, Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 1968 to rescue and protect animals, both domestic and wild, from cruel treatment, neglect or lack of care.

Danville Area Humane Society, Inc. – Based in Danville, Our purpose is to promote the welfare and humane treatment of all animals: mammals, fowl, reptiles, and fish; to prevent cruelty and promote kindness, respect, and reverence for all forms of life; and to this end, provide for the rescue and temporary maintenance of lost, strayed, abandoned animals; and disseminate the principles of humaneness through educational programs and through these efforts contribute to the creation of a truly humane society.

Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA – Based in Harrisonburg, we offer temporary refuge and humane care for animals in need.

Peninsula guinea pig rescue – based in Hampton, The Peninsula Guinea Pig Rescue was created in 2009 to assist with the multitude of unwanted and abandoned Guinea Pigs in the Peninsula region. To date, we have rescued over 135 Guinea Pigs and placed them with wonderful loving families. We pride ourselves on offering healthy, well socialized, child friendly pigs to ensure the best fit for your family!

  1. I live I’m Petersburg VA and I am looking for a bonded pair of guinea pigs either sex to enter a loving safe 1guinea pig 1 thirteen year old girl household. We have 4guinea pigs by rescue or surrender by friends who couldn’t keep them. So we do have ample experience with guinea pigs. I’m looking forward to someone contacting me with an adoptable pair

    1. Hi. We were given a pair and our dogs are going crazy. Also, I think one might be a female and one a male. We have to rehome. Interested?

    2. I have 2 male guinea pigs that I need to find a good home for. I’m in Northern Va and looking for the best shelter that is accepting guinea pigs at the moment.
