can guinea pigs eat cheese puffs

Can Guinea Pigs Eat Cheese Puffs?

Cheese puffs, cheese curls, cheese balls, cheesy puffs, corn curls, corn cheese are a puffed corn snack/chip, coated with a mixture of cheese or cheese-flavored powders.

They are manufactured by extruding heated corn dough through a die that forms the particular shape.

They may be ball-shaped, curly (“cheese curls”), straight, or irregularly shaped. Some are shaped as animals or other objects.

Puffcorn is a similar food, without cheese flavoring. (source)

They can’t eat them, unfortunately.

They have no nutritional benefit for them like fruits and veggies do so shouldn’t be fed purposely to them.

However, if they should nibble one or two of them, they will be fine.

can guinea pigs eat chips

Can Guinea Pigs Eat Chips?

Chips is a term which is given to potato snacks which are baked, they are also known as crisps.

Can guinea pigs eat chips?

As chips have different meanings in both the UK (where I am based in) and the USA (where the majority of the readers here are based).

I am going to write about two different foods.

The thing is that they both are as bad for piggies.

Chips (UK, Australia, Ireland) are slices of potato that are fried, otherwise known as fries in the USA.

Chips are definitely not good for guinea pigs at all as they cannot eat any potato foods whatsoever not to mention they are cooked.

They are definitely a food to steer clear of as far as guinea pigs are concerned.

Chips (USA) are what we would call crisps or tortilla chips.

They are still not good for guinea pigs at all, except for the fact they aren’t as heavily cooked as Chips or Fries.

They are loaded with salt which really isn’t good for them at all.

However if they do nibble on one it wont hurt them, they just can’t have too many of them.

So when you see the word chips, this is definitely something to avoid giving to guinea pigs.

can guinea pigs eat crisps?

Can Guinea Pigs Eat Crisps?

Crisps are eaten throughout the country and enjoyed all over the place because of their different types of flavours, textures and colours.

They are a great snack and are enjoyed the world over.

So if we can eat  crisps, can guinea pigs eat crisps?

Lets take a look..

Unfortunately guinea pigs can’t eat crisps because they are too high in salt and fat to be good for piggies.

They will nibble on them given the chance but they are not good for them at all. So it is best to steer clear of them for the good of their health.

So does this mean all kinds of crisps?

It means all kinds of crisps especially those with high salt content.

If you have unsalted crisps then they won’t harm them to have a nibble on, and they definitely will if you put them in front of them, but don’t make it a regular feature of their diet 🙂

If you are looking for a good foods to feed your guinea pig, start with good fresh hay, water and a diet of regular veggies.

However they will eat anything if presented with them so do be careful what you present to them.
