Guinea pigs are known for drinking water. They need water available all of the time as like us, they are dependent on it to refresh and hydrate them.

It is often wondered whether they can drink other liquids, and a good one to consider are juices.

This is because juice is often water based and uses additives to flavor the water.

This is especially the case with concentrated juices which can be added to water so as to flavor them.

They come in all kinds of flavors such as apple, blackcurrant, mango, lime, mixed berry, cherry.

So can guinea pigs drink juice, especially if it is mixed with water?

No they can’t unfortunately.

This is because the juice contains artificial additives and often sugars and sweeteners which are not good for piggies.

More concentrated ‘pure’ juices should be avoided as well as they will hurt a piggy’s stomach.

It is better to stick to water to hydrate them as they will enjoy it a lot more.
